Eurasian lynx and Balkan lynx listed in the Appendices of the Bonn Convention
The 14th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (COP14) which is held from 12 February to 17 February 2024 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, has listed the Eurasian lynx on Appendix II and the Critically Endangered Balkan lynx on Appendix I.
The proposal for the inclusion of the Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) on Appendix II and the Balkan lynx (Lynx lynx balcanicus) on Appendix I was submitted by North Macedonia as proponent, and Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Uzbekistan as co-proponent. The aim is among others to improve the connectivity of transboundary lynx populations and the international cooperation in the protection and management of this species.
