DEPREDATION
The Swiss hunting ordinance (Jagdverordnung, JSV, SR 922.01; DE, FR, IT) prescribes that damages caused by golden jackals on farm animals and agriculture crops are to be compensated by the Confederation and the respective canton. So far, there has only been 1 confirmed case in Switzerland: a sheep killed on 15.08.2017 in the community of Fideris GR. The sheep showed relatively subtle bite wounds. Genetic samples were taken from the wounds and the results came back as golden jackal.
Livestock killed by golden jackals is also presented in the KORA Monitoring Center.
